What a weekend. As usual the Riverglade track was gorgeous with truck loads of mulch added in and a new high speed section after the start. A light watering during the days racing and a big rain at night made for perfect track conditions Sunday. Jason Burke had a great race day going 6-6 in the MX2 class to move into 4th place overall and in his only MX1 moto he went from a first turn crash to 13th. He was lucky to make it to raceday as in Saturday’s practice sessions he had some major get-offs. Doing a practice start in MX1 he plowed into a stalled Blair Morgan and went over the bars. Then in MX2 practice he landed on a hay-bale that was placed in the middle of the track on a rut to create new lines and again went flying over the bars. Amazingly our Hondas only received minor damage to the fork guard graphics and Jay was uninjured. I think it loosened him up.

Our fill-in Intermediate rider Brandyn had an enlightening weekend. In the GP Intermediate race on Saturday he started 3rd in his first ride on the Label It Racing Honda CRF250, got into first after 4 turns, then checked out like he was in the wrong class. Unfortunately, like Snack Pack Zach Osborne in the AMA with his first moto fade, Brandyn got the halfway board when he was looking for a white last lap flag. The five seconds a lap he was gaining on second place Jeremy Medaglia disappeared and now he was losing time. Wisely he kept it going smoothly to the checkers allowing only Medaglia to get by him. In timed qualifying he got a 17th fasted while working through a lot of traffic. In his first moto he started midpack and passed up to 11th before going down 4 times and finishing 16th. Moto 2 was crazier when he started top ten and passed up to 5th including Burkey. They circled around in 5th and 6th for several laps. After Jay and a couple others got by Brandyn someone punted him off the track so hard he couldn’t get his number.

This sets up for a huge final race at Sand Del Lee next weekend as Jason is in 4th overall and 4 riders and within 7 points of 3rd. Thanks to Aaron at FXR for rushing Brandyn some sweet gear which we didn’t rip. The bikes worked awesome again and the Kenda Millville tires worked magic. Thanks also go the Brad Jr. for putting all new graphics on the bikes and to Gord at Podium Grafix for rushing the new Label It #554 plates. M2R is sending us a helmet for Cowie’s big head and we just received new chains and sprockets from Mike at Inrush. Just to let you know how good the Inrush sprockets are, we’ve run 7 Provincials and 3 Nationals on one set and they don’t look bad. Here’s hoping Deakz is back for Walton in 2 weeks.
